Going to Paris in the New Year for 2 day I’m willing to spend around €200 on accommodation, I’ve been looking at hotels but I don’t have a clue about how close they are to the city etc. I’m looking for a hotel that’s in the city and has a romantic feel to it.

If anyone has any suggestions they would be greatly appreciated or even any good search engines I’ve tried to obvious ones Travelocity, expedia blah blah

    Cheers

I stayed in the Hotel Langlois in September this year, would really recommend it if you're looking for somewhere romantic. i found it on tripadvisor.com and it was highly recommended so i took a chance.. its really great value, location etc and charming, but stay away from it if you like modern bland hotels. this place sometimes reminded me of my grannys house, but in a good way. eh the floor boards were dead creaky so that might p*ss you off but i didnt really mind and i hate noisy hotels. go for it :)

Take it, yeah we got room #31 and it was seriously a massive bathroom, i was dancing around it like an idiot. i think it was €99 per night for the room which is pretty good for a city like Paris. i've stayed in a lot worse for a lot more money. the location is great, its literally 1 minute to the Metro and walking distance to the Opera & Louvre.. bit further to Champs Elysee etc but only a short metro ride.

i thought the staff were really helpful although a lot of tripadvisor reviewers said they were rude.. i think if you make a bit of effort to speak French then its well received. i thought the staff were grand. Parisians in general are just so damn cool and polite that its taken up by people as snotty nosed rudeness. i missed the politeness when i came back to dublin :(

the staff even booked us a table in a great restaurant nearby which i am sure i will remember the name of shortly...

as i said it wouldnt be the hotel for you if you like modern spanky new places, but this place has so much character and style that i just loved it. even has a few paintings of naked ladies on the walls. hey its art! and paris in general is SO much cheaper than dublin, a few years ago it was a different story but things have changed & dublin has well taken over at this stage. let me know if you want any more info.

Try http://www.france-hotel-guide.com/, I stayed in the Hôtel Saint Christophe, in the Latin Quarter a few weeks ago and found it very good.

I've stayed in Hotel Keppler twice in Paris, and have recommended it to others. It's reasonably basic, but is very comfortable, with nice rooms (ask for a room overlooking the street). It's also convenient for the Metro, and the Champs Elysee.

no probs. the restaurant nearby is called "Les Bistro Des Deux Theatres". its only 5 mins away and we had a great meal for only €31 euro each. its called the Prix Fixe meal and is the best value option in restaurants all over Paris. basically a set dinner and in this restaurant the price included Kir royal aperitif drink (nice, not like a poxy free drink), starter, main, desert, tea/coffee and nice bottle of wine. really good food... dead popular too so ask the hotel to book for you and its real rosemantic as well ;) anyway this is slightly off the hotels topic so i'll stop as am drooling on the keyboard....
