Ok, i use XP and havea habbit of leaving Winamp playing. So when XP goes to the logon screen after a length of time, and someone else logs on, Winamp is still playing on my profile.

Anyone know a way to stop it? I aint a computer newbie, so if anyone suggests that i log myself on and turn it off, i'll be annoyed, and they'll be signed up for donkey porn :p

Seriously, anyone know a plugin or anything for it. Ya cant see the process in Task Manager in any other profile other than the one its operating in. Ive tried google and winamp, but got nothing

If your other Users have Computer Administrator rights then they can see WinAmp in Task Manager if they check the Show Processes from all users.

Click on WinAmp and End Process

You could try disabling Fast User Switching

Start > Control Panel > User Accounts > Change the way users log on or off

Untick Use Fast User Switching and Appy Options

This will terminate WinAMP (and all other processes you were using) when somebody else tries to logon ....

In the winamp preferences there's an option to allow multiple instances of winamp or just a single one. I guessing that if you allow just a single one, then if the other user tries to open winamp it will attach to your process and you can then close it.

Not sure if this will work or not, don't have XP/Winamp handy to test. Hopefully it's good enough to avoid the donkey porn though, unless of course there's some nice 'ass' in it. ;)

is there any smilie to represent a groan ?

If your other users don't have Computer Administrator rights, then you can place the Volume Control Icon in the Taskbar and they can mute WinAmp when they log on

    > Start > Control Panel > Sounds and Audio Devices

On the Volume Tab check the 'Place volume icon in the taskbar' box

WinAmp will continue to play while other users are logged on but they won't be able to hear it !

Can't you disable the logon screen appearing after a certain time?
What's the problem exactly - you don't want people to have to listen to your music or you don't want a process to be running in the background?

pickarooney: I want them to be able to kill winamp, then load it up and let them listen to their own music.

All the users have Admin rights,

The single process of winamp option is checked.

Dont really want to have all processes ending, i have a few things that i want running in the background, making sure the users arent up to no good, ya know.

Thanks for the answers, especially stevenmu, very clever, 'ass' huh huh huh

    ;)

If all Users have admin rights then in Task Manager

    On the Process Tab

Check 'Show Processes from all users'

Click on WinAmp and then click on End Process

Im usin Winamp 5.08 (newest one AFAIK)

Wondering can anyone help with a problem im havin?

There are two USERS on the PC (Windows XP), and both use Winamp,
but both use different Skins for it.

If 'USER1' changes the Skin, then it permanently changes, until it is changed
back to the one 'USER2' wants.

Is there anyway of setting it that both USERS have their own skin set permanently, for when they log on?

    TIA

First of all, wait more than 14 minutes before bumping the damn thread.

Then go and install Winamp into two seperate folders, one for each user.

i just saw this plugin for winamp
seems to do exactly what you want
    http://www.winamp.com/plugins/details.php?id=143873
This plug-in will pause Winamp when you lock your computer or switch to another user. It will resume playing when you unlock your computer or switch back to the user who has started Winamp. This plug-in works only on Windows XP and (hopefully) on newer versions of Windows too.
