Is it possible to set ibook to use sdram pc133 144pin sodimm with ecc?
I am told by someone it is possible but could not find any information on the net to comfirm it.
If it is possible then which version of ibook?

Any information will be greatly appreciated.

    yeah ECC should work fine...

SD 133 should work in all but the earliest Ibooks (which were 66mhz), though 133 "can" work even with these early models, but its hit'n miss its a bit like putting a gig of ram in a pismo it may or may not work.

Dunno which was the last model to feaure it though I'm pretty sure that SDram was used up until the 14' G3 900 version when they swithed to ddr 2100.

Best thing to do is prolly try it (at your own risk of course), at worst it'll probably crash, and you can take it out, at second worst only one side is recognised (e.g. a 256 module is only recognised as 128) at best... it works just fine :)

havent heard of anyone frying an ibook becuase of wrong speed ram... if your looking at buying ram new try www.shop4memory.co.uk they have a memory configurator which will tell you what you need to know, last time i bought ram i used it.... and then chose the cheaper OEM ram on site with the same specs and it was fine.

what type or ibook do you have ?

    Hi Deevey,

Thanks for the information. No, I don't have ibook.

What I have is a memory card
    TS64MSS72V6L Sodimm, 144pin, PC133, 512MB, 32M x 8 chip, ECC SDRAM memory.

I bought this on buy and sell and the guy told me it works with laptop.
But after I bought it I learned what ECC means and none of laptop would take ECC.

I want to sell the memory module it is no use to me but don't know who could use it.

Reasently someone told me iBook would take ECC but I cannot find any information to confirm this. Most of site does not mension anything about ECC.

Does anyone out there would like to try this memory module?

Well I can certainly give it a try it in my old powerbook which at present has 133 ram in it, if it works in that then it should work in an Ibook without a prob..

Where are you located and we can hook up somewhere convienient, maybe an internet cafe or something??
