    Hi,
I need to buy a new first and second stage and an octopus. It must be able to fit an air integrated transmitter. The old one was configured so that the transmitter had to go under the two low pressure hoses. However, the transmitter was too fat to fit (story of my life!!).

Anybody have a lot of experience in regs? Do you know what is a nice model? I am tending to go for the Mares Proton Ice - but it is pricey.

    Thanks in advance,

    Scubachick ;)

From someone that have serviced regulators i would recomend you to keep of the mares, expensive s**t.

I guess you have the Suunto transmitter that are a bit fat or trying to fit the Uwatec transmitter on a poseidon ?

If you are happy with your reg now, you can get an 90 degree bit that fits between your 1.stage and transmitter or if you have the Suunto transmitter you can get the Suunto quick disconnect.

No surprice that i would recomend Apeks

    Hi Nordic Diver,
You guessed right, Uwatec computer and poseidon regs :( . I have tried several different options to try to make these pieces of kit fit together, including approaching both manufacturers. Nothing seems to work. But also, my antique octopus had finally given up. I have also found the Poseidons difficult/expensive to service and maintain. Between everything, I have decided that this years new piece of Kit will be regs!

I have an Apex/ Buddy BCD and I must admit, that after 10 years of use (and abuse!) it has never failed me. It will probably keep going for another 10 years! So I will definately look into this.

To all other divers, have you any other opinions on Regs? What is easy to service? What is a nice breath? What lasts?

    Scubachick,

I have an Oceanic Delta3 i would like to change. I'd be happier with a poseidon as my stage reg. It would make all my regs Poseidon and give me extra cool points kitting up.

There's nothing particularly wrong with the oceanic, actually i've had it down to 64m and it worked a treat. Its O2 clean as well. Could this be a match made in boards.ie scuba section?
