    Hi,
Anyone know if this is backed up in this country by the police?
Would it be recommended as worth it to tag bikes with it? Costs about €30 for a tagging kit. You pop an electronic transponder into your frame, and attach 'vandal proof' stickers with the kit's serial number on it, and stencil the serial no. onto components. Serial number goes into a international database to which the police are supposed to use(?!)

How are stolen bikes recovered? How likely is it to be recovered?

Found a new level of paranoia :)

    Cassiel

just giving this a bump, see if anyone knows anything...

My experiences wouldn't give me much hope for this TBH, decent bikes are distinct enough to allow id by the owners. I'm not sure how organised teh sops are as regards reporting bikes that appear in their districts to the other stations
