Strange one...

My brother-in-law just got Sky Digital installed. Rang Sky directly, once the card came, installers came and installed it.

It has the Irish EPG, but the RTE's, TV3 and TG4 are showing up as not available. Nothing too unusual there, I here you say, but what got me wondering was that when you go into Services->Other Channels, BBC1, BBC2, UTV (yes, UTV), CH4 and TV5 are there tuned in already.

Anyone heard of this happening before?

I think it is very strange that someone has actually gone to the trouble of tuning in UTV and CH4 in other channels, and the fact that they are available.

Your brother in law has got a confused card.
Do nothing as if your bro rings sky you will lose access to ITV and four and five via other channels.
It's sky's mistake and if you have reasonable Irish reception via an aerial, theres no need for you to get them to fix it.

Here's the sticky on the subject.

    Doh!redface.gif

I thought that sticky was only due to the fact that 101-104 were not available, I didn't realise it was exactly what my brother-in-law was seeing.

I told him not to do anything, he also has NTL in the other room, so RTE isn't an issue.

In that case, ITV2 should also work via Other Channels. Which would be handy for occasional footie!

I thought ITV2 was only subscription?

I have an FTV card, with ITV2 on the EPG, but it says the channel is not available.

Well, I'm referring to your brothers subscription with Confused Card, if he has Family Pack or higher, then yes, ITV2 will work (the card somewhat thinks it's a UK subscription).

    Gotcha.

Yes, my brother-in-law's card has ITV2 in the clear, seeing as it thinks it is a UK subscription card, whereas, mine doesn't ('cos it isn't a subscription).

Makes sense now. He has copped the football on it already, and he is quite chuffed.
