    Nice card that...

Anyway, have you disabled onboard sound in the BIOS set-up? Re-install the latest and greatest driver from Creative.co.uk failing that. What shows up under Device Manager?

Check seated properly in PCI slot. Try moving it to another PCI slot, sometimes does the trick. Onboard sound is definitely disabled in the BIOS?

Weird! My knowledge exhausted. Have you done MSI LiveUpdate to see if there are chipset updates etc. which might help? Can't think what else it could be :-(

    I'd give device manager a good going-over.
Sometimes windows won't detect new hardware until it has detected some other not-installed hardware... clear up any unknown devices or 'broken' driver installs for the rest of your hardware.
Turn on the onboard sound again, make sure it's installed ok aswell.
It's also possible that the sound card has already been detected by windows and is listed as an unknown or generic sound device.
Often times you'll see the card listed during POST to show you what resources are assigned to what... keep an eye out for your soundcard on POST, should be a good indicator as to where the problem lies. (ie. hardware or software)

try removing the sound card and start windows. then shut down and install the card. i agree with santahoe. windows sometimes / always have its own glitch. if you have Intel chipset on your mobo, make sure u have the latest update. plus, check again the sound card manual on how to install the drivers correctly. there are hardware that require drivers installed first before the hardware.

also, there is a forum on MSI website that you can ask for specific help. PM me if you want the address. Unless mods dont mind if I have it posted here. ;)

I've a MSI K8N neo platinum with an audigy zs so if that's your board you should be able to get it to work somehow.

did you say you tried to put the ZS in another machine?

you didnt make it clear whether or not it worked...

Dont mean to be stupid but maybe it the audigy...unlikely though...
