I'm in Waterford so can't recommend anywhere specific in Dublin.

It depends if you want a fresh cake or a novelty cake. You can buy readymade novelty cakes like Barbie, Bob the Builder in local supermarkets like Tesco and Dunnes for around €15. They look great but not that nice - kids love them though. I think Superquinn make fresh birthday cakes to order and Kylemore. From my experience with cakes though is not to get one too big as a lot is wasted - kids are usually full from all the other goodies. So I'd recommend a medium or small cake unless a lot of adults might be at the party.

marks and spensers cakes are really tastey, especially the sponge ones with the buttercream icing and raspberry jam.

Its a 1st, so lots of adults. The novelty cakes look a little small. Especially the MS ones. The large one in MS is too plain. Its just too boring. But they do taste great. The plan is to check out superquinn in the morning. In D.15.

A great place to get a birthday cake is at www.cakesonline.ie
I've ordered many cakes within the past year. The best part - they deliver anywhere in Dublin! I highly recommend the Strawberry Gateaux! :)

    your kidding right?
35 quid for a cake that when at least 1/2 of it
will end up on the floor and in the bin for a childs birthday ?

if you have the time buy a packet of Greens pre measured cakes,
take about 20 mins to mix it up together let the kids do it with supervision
and then chuck it in the oven for the time it says on the back of the box.
Get them to mix up the icing and when the cake is cooked and cooled they can decorate it themselves. There are plenty of kid friendly tubes of icing and
little figures that can be stuck on to the cake.
This will cost a lot less then 35 quid and and you can include the birthday kid and thier guests in the making of the cake and the rice crispe buns and make it
    a really fun birthday.

OMG! Make one yourself ya big lazy mutant!
    Takes about an hour.

It'll only end up on the floor anyway.
    Besides a 1 year old doesn't need a cake.
