Just arrived in my mailbox, makes them much more affordable:

This week we are delighted to announce some great news for all dabs.com customers living in the Republic of Ireland. Thanks to recent changes to our operational infrastructure, last week we were able to significantly reduced our surcharge for deliveries to the ROI by a massive 75%! So, from £20, to just £5 plus VAT (£5.88 inc VAT). To read more visit www.dabs.com/uk and click the Irish flag in the top right hand corner.

Could cause Komplett to reduce prices and maybe get rid of brain dead GLS

Excellent news. I thought £20 was a bit much! £5.88 is grand.

Remember £5.88 + VAT is a surcharge on top of the standard shipping rates:

order value 0.5Kg or less 30Kg or less More than 30Kg
    £30 or less £3.00 (£2.56) £5.00 (£4.26) £7.00 (£5.96)
    £125 or less £5.00 (£4.26) £5.00 (£4.26) £7.00 (£5.96)
    More than £125 £6.00 (£5.11) £6.00 (£5.11) £9.00 (£7.66)

Who do dabs use for delivery? Please tell me it's not GLS...

Hmm, they might be worth a look in the future. A big order would work out cheaper than what DHL charge on Komplett.

Edit, after checking the site and when I click the ROI flag, the pricing seems to differ from the quote above. They seem to charge 21% VAT (I assume they must have an Irish VAT number?)
We’re delighted to announce that with immediate effect, we’ve significantly reduced our surcharge for deliveries to the Republic of Ireland by three quarters from £20, to just £5 plus VAT (£6.05 inc VAT at 21%).

    Also, regarding shipping:
Most of our deliveries are carried out by Parcelforce, the state-owned parcel delivery company which is part of Consignia.

Who does deliveries for Parcelforce/Consignia in ROI?

I'd be very wary about buying from dabs. First time I ordered a few years back it worked out great. Bought a laptop off them 2 months ago. Nightmare.

Firstly they shipped it to France, they wouldn't send me a replacement in the mean time unless I cancelled the order and paid again! due to some stock policy they had. So I had to wait for it to go back to them before they sent it on.

But then my parcel went missing, it took an additional week to appear instead of 1 -3 days. Parcelfarce were the couriers responsible. A guy turned up at my house in an unmarked white van, didn't ask for a signature. All in all it took 3 weeks instead of 1 - 3 days.

They have an automated e-mail system. I was told by parcelforce that I was entitled to a refund of delivery but dabs had to arrange it. Never happened, they just kept sending me automated replies that didn't address my problem. You can imagine the type, they copy and paste something from the FAQs that you've already read and that don't answer your question.

Oh yeah and the laptop was faulty (sent it straight to Sony, excellent, efficient repair system). I didn't dare send it back in case it disappeared.

If you get a problem God help you, otherwise you should be ok.

    GLS :( Whhooopsiesssssss .

They are grand in Galway though. Very professional :)

Komplett delivery is a tad cheaper through GLS if you compare them . A delivery that would cost €10 from Komplett (1 x HDD) costs UKP9.26 with DABS, nearly €14 .

Komplett ships from Holland with GLS and DABS ships from the UK .

Then again, throw in another 25 Kilos by adding a 19" monitor and the delivery cost is UK£10.11 or €15 or so with DABS . Komplett still charge €10 with GLS and a stunning €241.60 with DHL .
