As it says i am looking for a cd player for my car.
Being a student i am pretty broke just paying for the car in the first place so the cheaper the better. No idea where to get one and the car shops here in town seem very expensive. At least 250 for the head unit alone.
    Dont want anything fancy.
Anyone with any recommendations for price and manufacturer would be nice.

You can't beat www.incarexpress.co.uk. Got a HU from them before - very cheap in comparison to irish shops. Delevery cost about £11 if I remember correctly, but still works out much cheaper. Sony Head units start from £65....

Remember to get the ISO adapter from them aswell (if you need one) rather than forking out twice the price for one here.

Incarexpress are the best for quality stuff, but if price is the only factor than argos is worth a look, they had some dirt cheap ones there.

    Taken from http://www.incarexpress.co.uk/page.php?content=help_hu ...
    Head Unit Wiring
Traditionally, wiring in a new head unit involved miles of multi-coloured cables. These days though, a substantial number of cars use standard ISO connectors. This means that a replacement head unit will simply plug straight in. For cars that don't have ISO connectors, we can supply a range of harness adaptors, which do away with the need for any complicated cabling. These can be found in the "Other Products / Installation Parts" section. An increasing number of cars now also need aerial adaptors. A range of these can be found under the same section.

It's likely that you will need a harness adapter to convert the manafactur specific speaker and power connectors to the standard ISO connectors so you can plug the stereo straight in without messing with soldering irons or crimping wires. You can check your car model on the incarexpress site to find the adapter you need - if any.

argos were selling a JVC head unit for €75 a few weeks ago, it was a special offer though so i don't know if it's still valid. Maplin do relatively cheap cd/mp3 head units.
