Does anyone know anything about keyboard wedges? I have to buy one but I don't know the first thing to even look for in them. It just has to read barcodes and pass the numbers into the computer, simple nothing fancy!
Any help would be greatly appreciated

There's a crowd I think called ADCBarcode in Dublin who do them. They are essentially very simple. You get a "Y" connector that you plug into the keyboard socket at the back of the pc and then plug the keyboard into the "Y". There is usually a driver disk with them to install. It passes the barcode as a number when you scan an item. There are different types of barcode. You will have to find out which one you are using.

Do you have the scanner already, because they aren't cheep. As Hagar says, ADCBarcode should be able to help, I used to deal with them when I worked in 3Com. The wedge is simple enough, just a PS2 splitter really. The scanners were quite expensive though.

You could also try Intermec in Dun Laoghaire. They do wedges and scanners etc. www.intermec.ie

They sell wands/barcode pens which would probably be cheaper than a handheld scanner.
