I am doing my Masters this year (yay) but am badly stuck for a project topic.

I had been researching PC Screen Reader/Mobile Phone Screen Reader, but they are already done! As is the "talking web browser" and so on and so forth. I am asking for personal experience where you think an IT based facilitity could have made your life a bit easier.

This may seem pretty selfish on my part, but I hope you can help me all the same.

    Thanks,

    Mick

    Hi GoneShootin

I have ZoomText Level 2 on this machine. It both enlarges the text and if I so choose it has a screen reader. I find however that the speech can get very annoying, especially on a site like boards.ie which can have up to a hundred links on each page. ZoomText reads every link one after the other before getting to the part of the page I want to read.

Another programme I have seen running is JAWS (Job Application With Speach) It is the same as ZoomText but without the screen magnification tool.

There is also software called "Talks" availible for mobile phones. My sister has this on her phone which now allows her to navigate through the menus of her phone and send text messages. The Talks software takes up alot of memory and can sometimes cause the phone to freeze up requiring a restart of the phone. At present the Talks software seems very buggy. It also has a tendency to shut itself down.

The National Council for the Blind are a good source of information should you require it.

Also have a look at this fellas website, He knows all about this stuff and might be able to help you

    hope this helps you.
