Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

It seems to be fashionable lately to not like Friends, cos they're overpaid, undertalented, out of ideas and good lord the show is american and to turn your nose up at anyone who admits to watching it (though everybody probably does). At least around here it is. confused.gif

    Well I think it's class! smile.gif

Last night it was worth watching just to see Jennifer Anniston on all fours with a developing case of workman's trousers, but Joey's line was genius in it's simplicity biggrin.gif

what was joeys simplisticly genius line?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,945 ✭✭✭D-Generate

I didn't watch it so what was his great line.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,461 ✭✭✭--Kaiser--

It used to be barely watchable, but now its just execrable.
**** actors, sub soap plotlines, boring jokes...

And have you EVER seen a black person in friends that wasnt just an extra?
    WTF is that about?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,621 ✭✭✭Panda

The showw has gone to pants, the gags were fresh before but now they seem to be just old hat.

Bring in a couple of new writers i say, coz the ones they have were raped for every gag they had.

I still watch it like but am constantly let down by the jokes, they get too ridiculous.

    Aka: Dragon,Sexual Harassment Panda

How can a joke be too ridiculous?

You guys must watch it too in order to critisise it so smile.gif

And if you don't watch it what're you talking about smile.gif

The joke was brilliant but you really had to be watching the episode for full effect.....so catch it on SKY in a few weeks time.

It is aimed at 20-30 something middle class suburianites - who are predominately white. Do you have any black friends? It's not unusual for a bunch of people to be the same race even though the country is a complete melting pot.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,461 ✭✭✭--Kaiser--

Well there is a MUCH higher percentage of black people in america.

Its not just that none of the main 'actors' arent black, but i have never seen ANY black person on friends that i can remember

So just 'cause you can't remember one, there must never have been one. I'm sure there have been blacks, hispanics, asians all in the background.
Look, why would RTE buy a program aimed at blacks when the vast majority of the country is white? So Friends could do with a little more ethnic diversity, but I don't really care. If you want to continue along this line, do so on the humanities board.

It's a Hollywood problem. If they had the "token black man" would it make you happy? It's still a great show.

Hmmm, most people either love it or just plain hate it, I love it.

Its not too bad. Last night i saw the old friends where chandler gets stuck in an atm vestibule with a supermodel, which is chandler at his best, However I just find (and always have found) pheobe to be a really annoying character.

Just to point it out, but Ross and Joey were trying to date the same black girl on Fridays episode.

I thought poninting out individuals would only add to the "token black man" image - but Julie was Asian and Ross is jewish - what more do ya want? smile.gif

It's reached it's peak. One more season and then they should kill it off.

Yes, friends is a strange phenomenon.

How can something so absolutely c-r-a-p be so consistently watchable. You can say what you like about American productions, but they are slick. At the same time their comedy generally sacrifices originality & flare for sure fire dumbo slapstick. It's good fun, but not terribly taxing on the old grey cells.

Only the truly moronic would ever think its any good, how many of you watch just to look at jennifer anniston, like the people who watch Buffy just to see Sarah M Geller?

Anyone else think that those ridiculous monica-chandler "i love you" scenes are becoming a little too frequent? **barf**

Oh he comes back... but only to confirm he's gone for good.

Now that's a show that's going out with a whimper (it's so boring now, I don't even watch it).

Lone Gunman is a total POS too. They could of turned it into a pretty good dark series. Instead it's a dumb comedy where geeks are made out to be completly stupid and some dumb jock saves the day with his p1ssant "Oh you guy's didn't realise what happened?", and and all female hackers seem to like dressing up in tight leather costumes.

    *deep breaths*

I've nothing against tight leather costumes smile.gif

nah, not really. I hate it when shows have a 'baywatch' element. Some big breasted bimbo (who's usually intelligent in rl) in a skin tight costume with one line a week rolleyes.gif
