Hi folks, I'm a regular poster but...
I seem to "break wind" way more often than anyone else I know. My problem is when I have someone stay over.
I genuinely don't care farting during the day. I find though, if I score and a girl stays over, I obviously don't want to let rippers in front of her, so I save them up until I get to the bathroom (ie overnight). The problem is though, is get severe cramps the following morning.
I noticed this the last couple of times it happened, the cramps are VERY strong and painful (which lead me to the conclusion that I shouldn't keep 'em in). ...so I guess my question is this: Is there anything I can do/take to reduce the amount of gas I create.

(I noticed someone mentioned Charcoal tablets - but I'm assuming thats a joke)

Indeed. Try to eat more food that makes you more "regular" as well - fibre, etc.

Nope charcoal tablets ain't a joke. They're a fairly well-known means of controlling an over active farter...

Guys, honestly, I eat a healthy balanced diet.
    Breakfast: Toast, butter and tea

    Lunch: sandwich/noodles

    Dinnear:
    Fish (salmon)/chicken/beef.
    Pasta (fresh)/potatoes/rice.
    Spinnich/onions/mushrooms/peppers (sweet and chilli)/garlic.

    I don't eat desert.

Is there something I'm over looking? It's not like I'm a sprouts & beans kinda guy.

Certain foods will be more prone - and it differs for different ppl - can't just blame everything on baked beans or cabbage. Normally a coating of beer - even just three or four the previous evening can set the stage :(

If you feel bloated and are passing wind alot you may be suffering from one of a variety of intestinal disorders, such as imbalance in the helpful bacteria that live in your gut or it could be a precursor to IBS or even a mucosal deficiency.

There are several steps you can take. If its really a problem, go to your GP and see about arranging a H. pylori test. Heilicobacter pylori infect most of the worlds population, but can range in the effects they have on people from none at all, to bloating and wind to inducing much more severe conditions.

If the pylori test is positive, they will give you some antibiotic treatments to kill them and that should solve your problems. If its negative you may still have an imbalance of intestinal microflora. Acidophilus and/or some pro-biotics may help readjust the balance.

    FOOD... definitely.

Most likely an allergy that you don't realise you have... such as Candida or Dairy.
You might also suffer from BO.... which is also a good indicator.

do you drink too much ?, excess alcohol plays havoc with the digestive system and can give you alot of wind

Actually, now that you've mentioned it, I suffered from IBS (self prescribed granted) over a year ago, and have had this problem since.

...I'll be mentioning it the next time I visit the doctor. In the meantime though...

I do drink. Not excessively, but it could be described as allot. It doesn't effect the amount of gas produced - just the smell.
I don't suffer from BO. Actually, I can get away with not wearing deodorant (although I always wear some, just to be sure). Would this imply I don't have an allergy? (I assume not)
Perhaps I do have an allergy - but how can I tell, other than getting test done (I don't have a lot of disposable cash).

So other the charcoal tablets and altering my diet, anything else folks....
(I'll be getting the charcoal tabs - how often do I need to take them?)

I actually have this infection now and suffer ALOT because of it.
It can cause excessive amounts of gas, bloating, increases in weight, stomach pains and a similar feeling to indigestion that goes on for months on end if left untreated.

Basically it's a bacteria that cannot be killed off by the hydrochloric acid in your stomach. The bacteria causes excess amounts of mucous to collect on the lining of your stomach, the stomach then produces more acid to get rid of all this and there you get the pain... there is just too much acid and it starts to seep up and out of the opening at the top of your stomach and burns away merrily causing you immense amounds of pain. Another thing is that if left untreated it will eventually burn a hole in your stomach lining and hey presto!, you've got an ulcer.
Bear in mind, people with ulcers that are also left untreated have a higher risk of developing stomach cancer!

When I was suffering at my worst, I found that stuffing myself with food used to give me short-term relief because the acid had something to burn up (other than my stomach lining), but when all the food was gone I would be in a worse state than before!

This H.Pylori yoke is a bugger to get rid of.
The treatment consists of 2 mega-strong anti-biotics and an acid reducing medication taken over a 7 day period. The anti-biotics totally messed me up and I had to stay off work for the duration because I felt so unwell.
After 1 day of finishing the treatment I was back in pain again... so it was quite clear that the bacteria was still alive and kicking.
I'm now on a different type of medication for 2 months to see if this will get rid of it. Fingers crossed that this time it will work because it's a very tiring and annoying thing to have to put up with.

TheGasMan, I'd suggest you go to your GP and ask his advice.
Things to do with your stomach can be quite debilitating, difficult to get rid of and if left untreated may cause problems that might not be able to be reversed.

A little thing i do is i let out the first part of the fart, usually the noisy part, then hold in the second part, usually the smelly gas. Its efective most of the time.

Farts are a natural occurance, any woman who says she never farts should be smacked over the head with something pointy.
