A good afternoon's hurling in Kilkenny with 2 very interesting games. Gowran gave their best display of the year to date with DJ & Charlie well supported by the others this time.
James Stephens made an excellent late comeback to make up a 5 point deficit for a replay with current champions o'Loughlins that will be played next weekend.
Below is today's Indo summary on both games.

KILKENNY SHC : McEvoy goal earns replay for Stephens
    O'LOUGHLIN/GAELS 2-13 JAMES STEPHENS 2-13

A DRAMATIC 63rd-minute goal from former All-Star Brian McEvoy earned James Stephens a draw with Leinster champions O'Loughlin/Gaels in a thrilling Kilkenny senior hurling semi-final at Nowlan Park yesterday.

The closing stages were brimful full of exciting action as 'Stephens pulled a game that looked lost out of the fire. A lovely 57th-minute point from Brian Dowling took the champions into a 2-12 to 0-13 lead, and victory looked theirs.

But lively 'Stephens poured forward, and boosted by a great goal from Gary Whelan they hung on and hung on. An O'Loughlin's point from Seamus Cummins seconds from the end of normal time looked to have settled the issue.

However, 'Stephens forced two 65s afterwards, and before the second could be cleared McEvoy swept the ball into the net. O'Loughlin's had a late, late chance to win the match but a sideline cut from 25 yards by Alan Geoghegan saw the ball tail off wide.

    SCORERS - O'Loughlin/Gaels: S Cummins (1-1); J Lawlor, A Geoghegan (0-3 each); M Nolan (1-0); B Dowling, N Skehan (0-2 each); A Comerford, M Comerford (0-1 each). James Stephens: E Larkin (0-8); G Whelan, B McEvoy (1-0 each); P Larkin, P Butler, E McCormack, J Murphy, R Hayes (0-1 each).

KILKENNY SHC : Carey and Carter lead a merry dance
    YOUNG IRELANDS 1-18 TULLAROAN 1-9

A GOOD dash of C and C added sparkle to Young Irelands (Gowran) and helped them roar into another Kilkenny senior hurling final at Nowlan Park yesterday.

Six points each from old hands DJ Carey and Charlie Carter played a huge part in downing Tullaroan.

The losers were well and truly buried when David Carter galloped through to score a 64th minute goal which sealed 'Irelands place in the final on Sunday week.

Tullaroan were never headed until a pointed free from Carey in the 23rd minute nosed Young Irelands 0-8 to 1-4 in front. Another free from Carey gave them an interval lead of 0-9 to 1-4. Lady luck wasn't with Tullaroan as Jimmy Coogan's well-struck penalty came back into play off the crossbar in the 33rd minute.

Former All-Star Carter grabbed a hat-trick of points as the winners edged into a 0-14 to 1-7 lead by the end of the third quarter.

The winners finished by shooting 1-2 without reply.

    SCORERS - Young Irelands: DJ Carey, C Carter (0-6 each); D Carter (1-2); O Carter (0-2); D Carroll, C Phelan (0-1 each). Tullaroan: J Coogan (0-5); B Teehan (1-0); S Hennessy (0-3); N Sweeney (0-1).
