    hey!

i posted before that I deleted my hard drive!

and I had all passwords, documents and everything on it!

is there a company in Ireland or outside that works with Ireland that would recover my hard drive?

if I don't recover my hard drive that's it! :(

what do u mean by u "deleted" your hard drive? did u mistakenly format it? there are some tools on the net out there, that might help you recover some of the files. i maybe wrong but data on formatted drive can be retrieved. that's how some paedophile get caught. ie who keep dirty photos on their computer - coz they thought they could get away by formatting their computers.

try google to find these tools.

OK. I presume you didn't do anything to it, and you do not see it in Windows.

Where are you based; what region?

Finally, have you tried Active@ File Recovery? I've used this tool numours times, to retrieve my files when the hard-drive went. Download the demo, and run it. If it finds your files for you after you run it (it'll take ages if your drive is huge), buy it. From experience, I can say that it recovers my word doc's, etc.

As for professional companies, try http://www.lancast.ie/ Its a company out in Bray. Never used it, but you did ask for a Irish company that would do this sort of thing.

when you say formatted - was it a quick format ( ~seconds to do the format. ? recovery possible if not over written since) or a long slow format (data recovery not possible)

Note: I saw some where that newer versions of microsoft Fdisk write to every 64th sector (or track ?) when "testing disk integrity" just to be aware of another mechanism for loosing data.

If you have not installed over the data are then recovery of the data may well be as simple as restoring the partition table and reading the files.

    Boot from a Knoppix CD
Backup the existing partition table & MBR (sda1 is either a floppy or USB depending on which in PC on bootup)
    dd if=/dev/hda of=/mnt/sda1/MBR-XP size=512 count=1
gpart to "guess the partition" - then you can write it
then use knoppix to copy the data to somewhere else
then put things back the way the way they were
    dd if=/mnt/sda1/MBR-XP oif=/dev/hda size=512 count=1

Note: I don't recomend you trying to boot from or write to the XP partition while using the gpart settings - I had qtparted use differend CHS settings for a drive and the result could have been catostrophic..
