There's a lot going on in my personal life right now, and I feel it might help if I was able to talk to a professional. I don't want anyone in my family to know about it so I've come here to see if anyone has any ideas on where to find information on counsellors or therapists. Thanks for your help.

why dont you call the local citizen advice center, they should be able to help you!

or go to you local health board I'm sure they can arrange someone for you to talk to!

    best of luck!!!

that sounds like a good start, especially it wont cost you anything, or else you can always pay someone for therapy, but why would you do that if you can talk to someone for nothing???

Samaritans are pretty much there just to talk, regardless of your problem, they don't "specialise" in anything. Suicide is just the one they push because they get of lot of calls about it, and it's probably the most serious thing a person could ring about.

In fairness, if a person spends his day listening to people's problems and giving help, they're not going to be the friendliest person for a couple of hours after leaving work!

i see, tho they only deals with suicide

i understand what you mean by the couple of hours they might not be in the best of mood, but the problem I had with them is a little different.

they have thier private parking, so do all resident in the area, but its been a good few times when i come home from work, they have a car at my parking space, after it happened so many times, I got sick of putting my car out somewhere else and having to walk back to my house, I left my car in thier very empty parking space as they have taken mine, but then they came knocking on my door and giving out to me big time for parking there, I told them why but they dont care and they dont want to know, so after that, they carry on using mine and other residents parking, and leaving there own space empty, and the guy live next door to me left his car there for a couple of hours, what did they do, they got it locked in for 2 days!

hope you see my point now!

    i see your point

that just sound so silly, if they didnt do to you and others first, I'm sure you wouldnt have put your car in thier space to ask for trouble!

This probably doesnt effect their ability to help people who phone, looking for help.

Perhaps your family / friends might need someone to talk to also. Perhaps use a workaround to suss them out?

Your or a GP will have a list of people that are local to you.

Having a councellor with an appointment means that they can be there for you at a specific time, on a one to one basis.

In fairness now, and not wishing to beat you up, they have to deal with potential suicides, battered spouses, alcoholics, depressed people .... and you worry about your parking space....

Yea ok about the frickin parkin spaces already sheesh!

Afaik the Samaritans don't just lend an ear but can point you in the right directions as to where to go next.

Sorry Looking, I personally can't give you advice on where to go for counsellors or therapists. If it was me I would skim the yellow pages though, either that or... ask around (as you are doing).

sorry i made you think that i was worry about my parking space.

I dont worry too much as since they have eat my head off the last time, I didnt go near it!

but I was actually just parked there too birng in my 8months old baby from the car and all his stuff, then have a little rest and go look for a space else where, didnt think they be knocking my my door so soon, like in less than 5mins, and didnt care that it was raining out and I have a child with me!

but I have nothing against them dont get me wrong!

your GP is the best port of call. People often think a GP is only for physical problems such as flu, aches and pains etc. but they are more than capable of helping with depression etc. They are qualified professionals who will give you expert advice and will put you in contact with other experts.
