Once again I turn to the collective knowledge of boards.

I've read the where to buy thread but none of the links are much good for digital cameras.

I need to spec & cost a digital camera for my father-in-law.

Three requirements - cheap - small + high pixel count (as possible) with a buget of 200 eurons.

Where do you buy online (non-US)?

    What would you recommend?

I would recommend the Nikon Coolpix 3700. Its a great camera for the price. :D

Try Dixons in Blanchardstown, they have a sale at the moment with a digital camera with 3.2 million pixels for Eur 150, the only downside is that it has no optical zoom but it has digital zoom. :)

    Opt.

The Sony P100 is a truely gorgeous piece of kit:

It may be stretching your 200 euro budget though - 315 euros including VAT. It's a TINY camera, huge lcd screen & 3x optical zoom.

GF has one of these. Pretty good and especially at the price. It's not tiny but it's not big, about regular camera size and from my limited use of the thing, at that price I'd heartily recommend it with the 2000mA rechargables Amazon are selling for half nothing.

    Thanks guys,

    We went with this:

    KODAK Easyshare CX7430 € 165 Inc. VAT
    http://www.pixmania.com/ie/uk/40243/art/kodak/easyshare-cx7430.html#fichetechnique

Which worked out at €234 with a 256mb card, batteries & recharger. Not bad for a 4MP camera.

    Cheers again

yea that Kodak easyshare camera looks pretty good, I'll be getting one myself. Dixons have the camera for €230 but that doesnt include the extra memory

I think dpreview.com has good contents about digital camera and stuff... Read the user guides and reviews to find out what is good or bad...

If you wanna buy online, I would go with one of these sites, camireland or ny camera... never bought myself from these sites but few of my friends did.. they are not Irish based companies but yes... they ship to Ireland!
