    Well I dont know how far this kind of news gets but over here Mt St. Helens has been having some activity.

    I am facinated by Volcano's so I think this might be an interesting read for someone else:

    Aparently volcanos and techtonic activity are caused in part by life !
    as I remember it all the chalk laid down on the sea bed gets subducted and then lubricates the contiental plates (CO2 etc.) With out this then the continents would not move and we'd get Olympus mons size volcanos over the hot spots ,instead of chains of islands etc.

    BTW: in the time man has been on the planet the volcanos is that area have covered the two neighbouing states to the East in ash. I don't mean a slight ash fall. Also yellowstone park is more or less one giant volcano which is due to errupt someday - in the past it coveres 2/3 of the US with ash !
