Where can I get good quality tights?

    Hi all,
I'm looking to buy a nice pair of tights to go with my new skirt and boots. As I'm on a student budget I don't want to spend money on a pair only for them to rip the next day. Where can I get a pair of good strong tights for a reasonable price? I'm hoping to get some with a pattern on them, or in a nice colour, as opposed to the regular black.

    Cheers!

Dunnes or Penney's are probably cheapest and they have coloured tights there now as well. You could also try wearing fishnet tights over clooured ones - I think that looks quite cool.

Monsoon have cool lacy ones but they're a bit pricier.

Miss Selfridge ( cant spell?) and Topshop do some nice ones and students get 15% off.

Penneys have nice patterned tights for E6 a pair and they're reasonably strong as well. It can be very annoying though when you put on a new pair and ladder them in two hours!! Grrrr..

As has been pointed out in the "Tracksuits, the depths of fashion?" patterned tights don't look as nice as the plain ones, which make legs look a lot better. Patterened ones sort of distort the look of the legs and don't show them off at their best. People have different tastes and opinions, but that is mine. As a matter of interest what are the reasons why you like them? Maybe they look better with patterned clothes, but generally I don't think they look great.

I like patterened tights - they're a cheap way to make an outfit "new" again and they look especially good with dark colours imo. You have to be careful what kind of shoes you wear with them alright, though.

I completely forgot about Adhoc! I haven't been near the Southside in months. I got a nice pair in Penney's. They are black with diagonal criss-crosses on them. They were €4. They seem to be quite thick. I prefer patterned or coloured tights, I have a lovely pair of purple tights that unfortunately are full of ladders! The skirt is patterned (diagonal stripes) so I thought I'd match it. The patterns match as opposed to clash so it's all good!

Penney's is your friend :) Their €2 Opaque tights are great. Bought a pair of €8 fishnets in Mark's and Spencer's last year - I had ripped them before I had taken them out of the packet! Went into Penney's to get a replacement pair. €2.50 - and they actually wear! Imagine that!
