for lack of better place to ask this....

i just started using edonkey... i had kazaa but it such a heavy programme i got rid of it and i had heard bit torrent was the way to go

    im using edonkey2000

but im bit unfamiair with it.... does it work on the same principle of hte more you allow peopel to upload the more you can downlaod cos at the mo, although i some folders shared nobody seem to be uploading anything from me , a good thing perhaps but maybe a bad thing?

also how do rejig downloads when they go stale.. kazaa had a search for others sources, is there some sort of refresh button in edonkey...

If its music you're looking to download, use Soulseek.

because bit torrent is more suitable to downloading films and large files rather then 5mb songs at a time?

afaik bit torrent is a way of file sharing, where you download a bit from loads of people computers and you can also restart downloads?

i'll have a look at soulseek but edonkey has this bit torrent plugin thingi don't understand..

    yeah, spot on.

if you want to download torrents, grab bittornado.
soulseek is well worth getting if its just songs and albums you're after though

eMule is worth a look - I share over 100GB of stuff on it and I never stop uploading.

eMule is GPL, therefore it's better :)

GNU General Public License - it means it free and open source. Like Linux and Firefox.
