    29 September 2004

    Mr Bernard J Durkan TD
    Dail Eireann
    Dublin 2

    Dear Bernard
Thank you for your various representations concerning Irish Rail's proposal for the development ofthe railway network in the Dublin area.

Irish Rail recently submitted to my Department a €3.4 bn plan for the development of an Integrated Rail Network for the Greater Dublin Area over the coming years.

The Railway Procurement Agency (RPA) has also been formulating proposals and is proposing extensions to the Luas and has also submitted a case for the connection of the existing Luas line at St. Stephen'sGreen to Dublin Airport on the basis of a metro system, in accordance with the Programme for Government.

The proposals from both Irish Rail and the RPA are broadly consistent with the transport strategy for the Greater Dublin Area "Platform for Change" which has been developed by the Dublin Transportation Office. The proposals from RPA and Irish Rail are currently being evaluated and the views of the various interested parties have been noted for consideration in that regard.

I trust that this clarifies the issues for you.

    With best wishes
    ...--

    Seamus Brennan TD
    Minister for Transport

yeah, i go that yesterday too....

the cabinet reshuffle was announced on the 29th, so he would have been still minister, before it was announced. i think.

Then you had unreasonably high expectations of Platform 11.

    AAAAGGHHHH Thats not my point.

I expect politicians to get on with their jobs of evaluating and making decisions, not sending pieces of fluff like that.

Well then you had unreasonably high expectations of politicians.

If you have low expectations you get what you deserve. Victor is right.
