How do you think he'll do? Are you expecting much from the show?

I concur with sharkman. He's absolutely ****e! In fact I'd go further than that, I think he's the most annoying, patronising ignorant little bollix to grace the Irish airwaves ever.

His Radio show is ****e and now he wants to pollute the tv as well. His beatles obsession is so annoying and is so patronising. Hopefully the show will be short lived.

I'm not sure what to think of him.. he's so sarcastic and "intelligent" .. condescending.. arrogant.. but....

he surprised me as host of The Rose of Tralee.. well he was better than Marty Whelan anyway.. at least he's not all rehearsed.. and he can think for himself...

    I dunno.. not convinced!!!

It should be interesting, It will be of the same style of Jay Leno/Dave letterman, with a similar set and a house band led by Jim Sheridan from the Lyrics board. Heard of a few ideas which they had for it, but the big wigs in RTE curbed them because they were border P.C. Hope it goes well for him, at beginning when he started to become known, everyone thought he was great and then for some reason everyone turned on him. I hope it Does well

I'm not a big fan or Tubridy and find him irritating.

If the show is in the same vein as Leno/Letterman it might suit him as both their shows are centred around the hosts ego.

I think he is ok on the Full Irish. He can be a bit annoying but that has probably more to do with whats expected from a breakfast show presenter than the man himself. He did well with the rose of Tralee so I will be interest to see how he copes with the format of the chat show . I think he is a talented broadcaster and will do well. The smugness comes with the job most jocks suffer from it..

I predict this show to set new depths in televisual crapness.

I am one who used to enjoy him, for sure. The banter between him and Shane et al was fine. But then, I realised I missed something in the morning. New music. Like bond-007 said, he has a self love affair with The Beatles, while fine in moderation, I find he does it to overkill. Speaking of overkill, he can repeat the same songs every morning; eg Rachel Stevens new song is out, but he knows no better than to play her last single. Something happened since the summer, as if his focus is entirely on the TV show and doesnt give a damn about the radio. He's playing a lot of the Beautiful South this week, I wonder who his first musical guest will be?!

With the TV, he could be found out. Some people have been waiting for him to fall... this could go either way. He could fly, or die on his arse.

Marion's slot on Radio 1 is now available from next summer.

That wouldn't suit him. No scope to play the Beatles or any music at all. :D

RTE are in a sad state to give this idiot a TV show, oh well I suppose they gave one to Daniel O'Donnel.

Daniel O'Donnell has a market; Old Grannies. They need TV too.
Whereas Ryan has.... his own ego.... thats all the market research he needs. :)

Frankly so far as broadcasting goes, Tubridy shouldn't be on the box: he should be IN one.

    Nuff said.

Well what did you think of the show? I thought as usual he interupted the guests too much and talked too much and he kept asking the Seoige sisters what it was like growing up with a guard for a father. He must have asked that question five times.
Hector would be entertaining on any chatshow. For me the jury is still out. We'll see what the weeks to come have in store.

The Tupperwarehead Tonight Show is a desperate attempt by RTE to come up with something new... but they have forgotten that many people in Ireland have access to satellite TV these days, so we have seen it all before - but done properly!!.

Mr. Tupperwarehead is being pushed by RTE as the "next big thing". They will get tired of him when they have wasted lots of licence/tax payer's money on their latest failed experiment. I remember they did the same with Gerry Ryan for a while too, until they realised it was better to keep him on radio.

We will have to grin and bare it for a year or so, and then (hopefully) this ugly and irritating little chap will make a discreet and permanent exit from our TV screens... that's if some guest on the show doesn't do the nation a favour and thump the crap out of him before then.

Look at the front page of rte.ie, biggest picture!!!!!! Why are they trying to promote this annoying dude, I think this really says something about the state RTE is in.

Don't forget his whole Rat Pack/Frank Sinatra/Dean Martin obsession too.
