i reckon you should rent out The Eiger Sanction. it has clint eastwood as a CIA art history lecturer who has to climb the matterhorn mountain in order to get a painting from a german albino with many lurv encounters on the way.

possibly the worst film ever but worth watching for that along. i love it.

there is so much rubbish out there..but!
Might I suggest Jagged Edge for action and suspense, 'Millers Crossing' or even a personal favourite 'Leon' (the Assasin it was called here). Or for a real thrill, the French version of 'La Femme Nikita'.

The Asassin staring Bridgit Fonda is the american remake. Not a bad film, probably because they copied la femme shot for shot.

Atrocious??!! Philistine!! They are excellant films. How can you call a film which has Clint Eastwood running around a bavarian castle with Akimbo Schmissers and a suitcase full of explosives atrocious?!
Watched Guns of Navarone over the weekend, another WWII film worth a look, as is Kelly's Heroes, A Bridge too Far, Das Boot, Cross of Iron. M60? feh! MG42 :P

Regarding Vietnam films i think Apocalypse Now is the best of them, potentally the best war film too.

    Stephen.
