    what type of hdd? ide or sata, ghost 8 has issue with sata, its actually not supporting sata raid controller, but some works with it, ghost 9 supports it fully!also how big is you hdd, i mean how much data on it?if its huge you gonna need a good few cd's, better off using dvd r then!

    free software to clone a hdd to cd?? I dont know of any sorry!

    Check the make of the hdd and go to the manufacturers website. Some of them have free cloning utilities.

    Thanks for the replies. Norton Ghost is excellent and I have used it at work, but it is only free if you get it for Christmas. I just copied all my documents onto another computer, and crossed my fingers that there would be no problem reinstalling my software.
