Most Digital Cameras are heavy on batteries and I would strongly getting some rechargable batteries. I always carry 8 to be sure I have a fully charged set on hand.

Is the type of thing you are looking for. Be sure to get at least 2000mAh batteries.

I use an Ansmann Digispeed 4 and 2200mAh AAbatteries for a canon 550 speedlite(it also charges AAA - which is nice). They're almost as good as energisers, but once you get home after a day out, just pop em in the charger and off you go. It'll probably cost about 70 yoyos, but it will pay for itself pretty sharpish

When i first got my Digital Camera (Nikon coolpix) it ate the batteries like no tomorrow. But after a few times charging and then letting it fully discharge, the performance vastly improved. I distrusted the "Battery Exhausted" message, it seemed that if i turned it back on there was still plenty of power left. So i discharged it by leaving it turned on at the setup page. Soon afterwards i was happily snapping dozens of photos on one charge..

also, most point and shoot digital camera users use the lcd display to take pictures, this is the main source of power, use the viewfinder instead. no pro cameras even have the facility for using the lcd to take pictures from as the viewfinder is almost always better
