    Saw it last night too...

As a big fan of the book I was expecting to much, so I have to say I was dissapointed with the end result...

That said it was a better film that 90% of the trash that gets made these days, the amount to tension is incredible.

I think just dropping the mutant pig thingies in there with no explanation at all was a mistake, the people who were there last night who had no read the book were like "WTF are they..."

    Hopkins is just amazing

Saw it last friday. Very good film.
How could you not like the ending??????????
It was probably the only time in my life ive been in tears laughing and about to get sick at the same time smile.gif. It wasnt silence of the lambs, but it couldnt be (the main part of silence was the conversations in the cell) but the telephone conversation in hannibal was pretty class.

Her Five Spot Mustang was pretty sharp too.

I liked it, it's different to silence of the lambs in a lot of ways, and not quite as good, but I like it. I'm a huge fan of all 3 books (Where did that ending come from?) Aside from the ending and the total lack of Mason's sister it stuck closely to the book, I thought the representation of Verger was good apart from his speech, I loved the memory palace in the book too, wasn't in the film. Hopkins was excellent again, I think I prefer Foster to Moore as Clarice though. But if it was a choice between the film and the book, I'd go for the book.

A whole bunch of us went the other night and talking about it later, a lot of people (Jodie Foster included!) thought the book ending was just too far fetched. I, on the other hand, thought it was well l33t! I did not like this ending, it was just ****e that leaves it open for another movie, where for the book to spawn another one we would have to go totally la-la *yawn*

I was looking foward to the blood and guts of seeing the intestine smile.gif Poxy mood lighting smile.gif

Again thought, that said, people are saying it was not that quite good, but its still far better than the pulp that gets released these days, the tension is amazing!

I have to agree, the book is much better, partly because it explains to some degree where his cannabalistic tendacys come from (i`m takin bout his sis) and also because Hannibal wasnt as menacing in the film.

There were also a couple of holes such as, did any1 notice that Clarice wasnt wearing the hand cuffs and there was no blood on her hands, after Hannibal escaped.

still though, as u said, better than most of the crap coming out these days.

didn't read the book but thought the film was quite class. the ending was good, I felt and overall the film was quite suspenseful.

The strange one I thought was when Hannibal sends Clarice the letter which you see sealed with wax, but in a flashback a minute later he's licking the envelope to close it.

    POO film,
i laughed when hopkins took the top of the guys head off, and the guy was like "ccooofffeee", "starling u could work for me, you could be an office girl, can you file?"
that was very funny and the only decent bit in the film.
    silly silly film

    That part was most funny!

The whole make the guy eat his own brain - I mean what better way to end a film? wink.gif

    All the best,

thought it was ok. good tension, buildup to the gore half-way through. some good dialogue..."i'm giving saaarius considderaytion to eeting yo wayfe..."

"you'd be paranoid too, if everyone was out to get you..."

Not as good as "I ate his liver with some fava beans and a nice chianti" smile.gif

Read the book, the film's not as good as it could have been but the book is at least as good as the previous two in my opinion.
