i remember my dad renting this ou tfor me as a kid. does anyone remember a film set in canada during one cold, very snowy winter?

there was so much snow that the kids in the area built a huge snow castle and had a war. it wasd all pretty cool until this guys St. Bernard dog got smothered under a collapsed wall of snow.

there was something about breeding butterflies too or something.

weird film. i know it alright, unpleasent atmosphere though. the snow castle was mad, that and the dog dying is about all i can remember of it... i don't remember the butterflies.

a similar film that i saw roughly the same time was called "Stone Fox" or something (i think) where a young guy wanted to enter a dogsled race in canada/alaska
