    Mornin all,

Buying 2*200gb drives for my pc. Also have an existing 120gb and 20gb drive. Will most likely attach 2*200gb's to the primary ide on one cable and my existing drives will be attached to a controller im getting. Question is there is no issue adding 2*200gb drives is there? Just I've seen here and there that some systems dont recognise large drives?

My mobo is an Asus A7n8X and im running winxp pro.

    Cheers for any advice.

    CL.

You should be able to check if your board has any issues with the 137Gb limit on the manufacturers site. Normally modern boards that do have this issue will have BIOS upgrades available to fix it.

The controller won't have any 137Gb limitations and will be seperate from the boards detection.

If your WinXP install is patched and service packed up to date it will have no issues with 137GB (SP1 fixed it I think) and it will be able to access drives that aren't detected properly by the BIOS too.

EDIT: A quick google seems to indicate that the board has no 137Gb issues so your only worry is XP. You may have issues installing Windows if your XP disc predates SP1.

Im running XP Corp with integrated SP1 and now with SP2 .. so you should have no problems.
