Fitting hard drive in case

My case has a CD-ROM-sized space to fit the hard drive. I know you used to be able to get rails to sit out at the side of the hard drive to fit it in there, but I always found it kind of kludgy doing this. Is there a better way now?

either get rails or hard drive racks, like coolermaster cooldrives(only ones i know by name coz i have them( ) or i think some fan controllers allow you to mount a hard drive in (i know my old hardcano unit in my thermaltake had brackets to hold a drive)

apart from that i dont know what else you can do unless you do make something yourself

You can put it in a HDD drive caddy as VV said. You can pick them up in Maplins cheap enough and also handy for swaping drive quickly.

Kludgy? - It's been the standard way for 20 years...
It's about as elegant and simple a solution as could possibly exist for fitting a 3.5" drive into a 5.25" rail.

I googled "hard drive caddy" but came up with a lot of laptop caddies.

Anywhere else other than Maplin that does these? I'll never shop in Maplin again.

Marx Computers have both the Rack and the External Cases, they are located in Fairview but you can have it sent to you in the post.

Mobile Rack for 18 euros or the USB external hard drive case for 50 euros.

Thanks, Optikus, I'll try Peats on Saturday. I tried using the rails before and found them a ferocious irritation.

Oops, found that it slotted neatly in under the floppy drive. Now my only problem is that the light-up case isn't lighting up. Hmm. Found one of the wires that plugs in and can't see the other. Ah well, tis little my troubles are.
