CIÉ chooses Trintech for machine payments

Trintech has announced that CIÉ has selected its PayWare product to automate ticket sales paid for by debit or credit card at unattended ticket vending machines.

The machines are in DART and commuter railway stations with a roll out schedule to include mainline and regional stations in the coming months.

Iarnród Éireann and Bus Éireann will also deploy PayWare Merchant to handle seat sales at ticket vending machines, booking offices, call centres and online.

Trintech says this is part of the government's plan to maximize the use of public transport, and CIÉ's programme has received National Development Plan as well as some EU funding.

Part of this investment program includes the selection and roll out of unattended EMV Chip and PIN ready ticket vending machines. The new system will enable passengers to conduct secure Chip and PIN transactions at each unattended terminal.
