Outlook 2003 Account Settings

    Hey all,

Setting up a new mail account on outlook 2003. Its a new laptop and I made a point of copying all the settings from the previous laptop before selling it. I have the account set up - its an eircom a/c - and I use UTV Clicksilver. I have mail2.eircom.net for the incoming server and mail.utvinternet.com as outgoing server. I have the connection type to use internet exploers or 3rd party dialler as i am on a wireless connection. These settings worked on the previous laptop which was also Outlook 2003.

When I test the account now it says It establishes a netwok connection, but I get a message to check my SSL settings in More Options, tha it could not connect to the servers. These are the same as what was on the previous laptop,so I cant see it been this.

The main difference between laptops is SP2 is preinstalled on the new one and the last laptop only had SP1a. th firewall is turned off - anyon know what it might be?

I should probably mention that I have installed Eircom dial up connection also and its the same problem.

    Thanks in advance

I don't think you should have to use SSL with Eircom's pop mail.
This is how my eircom account is set up in Outlook 2003 and it works for me with SP2, firewall or no (BTW. I am also on Office 2003 SP1 but I don't think that makes much difference here). Naturally I've removed personal information, just fill in your own specifics. Hope this sorts you out.

Edit: Damn, the images aren't working with remote linking I'll try bundling them in a html page instead.

    hey
thanks for the reply - dont worry about the settings - i looked up Google - and the possible reasons for the error. I narrowed it down to the firewall. Even though the Windows firewall is disabled - theres a McAfee Personal Fiewall installed - sorry I didnt see this when i first posted. It was blocking Outlook for some reason - have lowered the security and all is well now.

    Once agian thanks

Ok. Good you got it sorted. I'll remove those images from my webspace again then. :)
