UTV, as its one of the 3 thats that is not part of the now uniform ITV1 look across England and Wales, a relic to the way ITV used to be.

In saying that, the programming is ****e.

    Hi DMC

There are peeps wanting the Scottish companies to buckle under to the New Uniformity too - STV and Grampian - here's holding out to differ!

BTW where do Channel stand with this, anybody tropical on-line here?

Channel are practically an ITV plc company as regards branding is concerned, they even use the corporate ITV News identity for Channel Report. (Although UTV does use the astons...)

The only difference is, their regional idents say "Channel" and have their heart logo rather than an "ITV1 Channel" logo.

    Hi Icdg

    Thanks for this :D

    Hi Eireman1916

As for faves, currently Grampian but only if they resist becoming STV (North) which is looking very ominous.

For me it has to be Central in the past - very good programming, very good regional identity and very slick in the continuity front.

It was one of the 'big 5' and yet seemed very local to the Midlands. Of course this was ruined when Carlton took over and stripped away everything including the name and even though the regimented image (brand) of ITV is now in existence, its nice to see that the power (Granada) has decided to bring back the name - Central. Even though it is known before regional programmes as 'ITV1 Central'. But least thats better than Carlton.

If you are interested in RTE/TV3/ITV/BBC/CH4 nostalgia etc..Here's a couple of links that may be use...
