Not at the moment but that could change in late November when the ITV encryption deal with sky runs out.

We also can't get any of the four Irish channels, even though we all pay for TV licences and they all pay for inclusion on the EPG.

What's the connection with the TV licence??? We all pay a TV licence but we still pay for NTL or Chorus. Did you expect it to be available for free?

Well, I'd expect some free to view digital option, either DTT or Dsat. Then again I'd also expect decent analogue reception, but I don't get that either

Which absolutely breaks my hole - I pay RTE a big licence fee and my reception is dodgy, but I pay BBC nothing and I get top quality reception with the red button and all the other bells and whistles.

RTE don't pay any money to NTL or Chorus. They do pay money to SKY. In the UK people with a valid TV license used to be able to get a free card FTV, then they started charging a one off fee for it. Here you need a SKY contract to see what your license fee already subsdises.

And as I've pointed out before when Italian channels have stuff that they don't have licenses to show all over, they simply encrypt those programs and leave the rest clear. Also most of the stuff that RTE would have to encrypt is imported and could be seen on BBC etc. Would I be right in saying that TG4 woundn't need foreign rights for anything dubbed in Irish ? If you throw in TV3's entertainment programs (the movie trailer one which saves movie studios a fortune in advertising) there more than a few hours per day there (but curates egg syndrome)

Lets hope November 20th isn't just a rumour.

Put simply, that ITV are going to follow the BBC and give Sky the finger wrt encryption. Which would mean that we'd all be able to tune ITV into Other Channels but no Irish EPG listing.
