    Hi Folks
It's about time we let you all in on a new venture that we've been putting together in our secret underground laboratory...oh...it's not secret anymore...

Diddlysquat is a newly formed games design company based here in Ireland.

Our first full release will be a horror/sci-fi pen and paper RPG called "Spectres" set on earth some distance in the future. The game setting is very sophisticated and complex, and although we're currently working on this like eager beavers in the beaver eagerness championship we don't expect to be able to release the finished product until mid-2006.

That's a long way away, so we're going to release a number of prequel games. Each of these will be a complete, stand alone game, set in a different historical period and containing a sub-set of the rules, a number of scenarios and a few pieces of the jigsaw which explains how the world gets to be the way it is in the main game.

The first of these prequel games, Spectres:Ancient Hordes, is due to be launched early next year.

Diddlysquat will also be bringing other games and gaming merchandise to market (more about which we'll let you know as things develop). We're currently finalising a deal to distribute a rather nice sci-fi miniature battle game amongst other things.

Finally (for now), we've decided it is time we all learned a little more about the Irish games market so at this year's Gaelcon we're launching the Big Mad Irish Games Survey. We'll be attending every significant convention in Ireland over the next 12 months with the Diddlysquat team to gather as much information from you as we can about what we're all playing. After Gaelcon the survey will be available on line too, so if you're not coming to the cons you can still add your €0.02 worth.

In the meantime, if you've got a group or a club and you'd like to let the world know about it then mail us the details and we'll include you in the directory on the website.

If we've missed off any shops where you buy games let us know and we'll include them too (free adverts! Wow!)

If you'd like to make suggestions for useful or interesting stuff about gaming that should be on the site, let us know and we'll do our very best to get it up there on the site for you.

I'm sure we can rely on the support of all the dedicated gamers here on boards, and we look forward to a bright future for ourselves and the whole of the Irish RPG industry.

    Thanks for reading

    Specky

    a) you want some illustration work done
    and
    b) the examples at http://spankywombat.deviantart.com don't put you off entirely.

Well the first Demo games were run several times over the weekend at Warpcon.

Thanks to all the gamers who came and played and filled out the feedback forms. There were a few of us gming and I have to say I really enjoyed running the game for those that ended up at my table.

And well done Sarky who won best player for Spectres:Ancient Hordes at the con.

    You're embarrassing me... :)

Thank you, all you Diddlysquat people, you have a nice little game on your hands there. I certainly enjoyed playing, and I'm very much looking forward to finding out more of the backstory and stuff.

NO! Thank YOU!...Jeez, this could go on all night...

'twas indeed a fun weekend and we're very satisfied with the feedback we got from the people who played Ancient Hordes.

You want background? You can't handle the background!!!...oh...hang on...You want background? You ARE the background, well you're a small piece of one part of a fraction of a side plot of an incidental bit of the background anyway. You'll see what we mean when the printed version comes out. But if that weren't enough, you'll be pleased to know that my middle name is Fluff (god, my parents were cruel!) so you'll have background out the ying yang by the time we've finished with you!! :)

We had fun. We're glad other people seemed to too.

    Yippee for fun!!

    Yippeeeee for Diddlysquat!!
