just wondering does anyone else listen to them? I've I&W, Awake, Scenes From A Memory, and ToT. What do people think of ToT?

I like dream theater myself, but I really wasn't so fond of Train of Thought. Their new live album came out recently, but everywhere I've looked(offline) it's be €30+.

I like ToT. Especially As I Am and This Dying Soul. Petrucci's work on those two songs is great imo.

i don't understand why some DT fans don't like ToT, its heavy, and technical (in the name of god). Maybe because it wasn't light?

Its just a matter of taste, I know people who didnt think much of the In Flames album 'whoracle' yet love most of their other albums, its just opinion. As for Dream Theatre, yes superb band, if you like these guys though, there a british band who play a VERY similar style to Dream Theatre (infact 'exact copies' isnt too far off at times), that are worth listening to, their called 'Threshold' and they played at this years bloodstock, awsome band IMO, while not quite as good as Dream Theatre (Change of Seasons is a 24minute musical master piece). However Thresholds website is here, a few sample mp3's there too, worth checking out, listenign to them atm actually.

Well, speaking personally I've no problem with the level of skill, and I did like some bits on the album, but for whatever reason most of the music just didn't do it for me. Oh, and I didn't like most of the vocals, and usually I'm fine with James LaBrie.

TBH it's my favourite DT album by a long, long way. I find a lot of their other stuff a little too... dunno, can't think of the right word, but it just doesn't do it for me. Some great songs on each album, but overall they were just patchy. Like they were trying to be a little too clever with the music. On TOT they seemed to just nail it and dispense with a lot of the clever muso stuff. I hope the next one continues in that vein.

What little I've heard I liked. Reminded me of Tool in some ways. Time changes and things like that.

Well it's less heavy first and foremost. Eh, all the space age noises on the first disc got to me a bit, but overall I thought it was a pretty good album.
