Formatting a Laptop..

my Laptop has got full of crap and a virus from irc..despite having sygate firewall in

its being a bugger and wont go so all in all i feel a fresh start would help, it came with xp home preinstalled and everything so i dont know what drivers would be with the laptop, if i was to wipe it and just installl xp pro on it, would it still need all the drivers and everything, like motherboard and sound...chipset all the crap that usually come on a motherboard disc ..as i dont appear to have any driver discs with the laptop...

im not used to prebuilt things im use to my custom ones with discs for everything

would i need drivers from somewhere or what?, i may be on about my..10th pc ..but im pretty new to laptops so :rolleyes:

Before you wipe get your part numbers and get drivers you need to get online.

Then format install get online run windows update.

www.belarc.com will tell you part numbers of everything in your system.
But the modem ones would be the most important for obvious reasons.

"your modem is not installed please connect to windows upodate for drivers"

lol!, that would be my luck

its wireless through my router but thats not working either so i would be rather screwed

i dont believe it, it was in my laptop bag so i went to get it and noticed a rather full pocket, just opened it to find driver/utilites, windvd, photoshop. works 2004 ..and all this crap
