Getting FTA Sky card from my cousin in England

Hi all. I am going to have my cousin get a card from Sky in the UK.

My question, does she actually have to have a Sky subscription to receive a FTA card from them? I assume she makes up an excuse that she bought a cheap digi box from a boot-sale or something, right?

Then once she receives it & sends it over to me here in IRL, can I just swap my Irish card in & out with the card from the UK? Or do I have to power up & down each time I swap the card in & out?

Let me know if I am missing something really fundamental here.

    Thanks lads & lassies.

    Chris

The only way to get ITV,CH 4,CH 5 without paying a monthly bill is to get an ex-subscription UK Sky card.

Not from Oct 21st. Sky will be doing these cards again for £20.00.
