Problems with Harddrive.

right the way the story goes i got a new copy of win xp, now my original os was win 2000 pro and i was trying to change it to xp by just putting the cd in the drive and expected it to just be that easy, then i found out that xp wouldnt install over win2000.

i then tried to format my harddrive so i could install xp directly, but it wouldnt let me format the harddrive. after this i used partion magic to delete everything from the hd. that went well enough til i restarted the comp and it would load anything but the A drive.

so i took the hardrive out and put it in my other comp which is running win xp and that comp wouldnt load with my harddrive in it, but when i take the harddrive out again it works no problem.

anyone have any ideas how i could get the harddrive working again so i can install xp?
oh one last thing when i load up the comp it'll only read the A drive wont read any of my cd drives.

its a real kick in the balls!

    Thanks Craig M

Go to BIOS set CD as first Boot up device, insert XP cd go to install then format.. it should let you format the drive if not post the message you get and we will try to help.
