emergency tax

    just started a new part time job and im paying emergency tax. anybody know how i get away from this evil??

    You will have to get your tax credits sorted. Either head to your local tax office, or ring them on the phone. They're generally very helpful. You'll need your PPS number and possibly your employers number.

    Your employer will then be notified of your tax credits and cut-off point and can start taxing you correctly.

    Each employer has a number that the tax office identifies them by. It might be on your payslip. If not, ask for it. Sometimes the tax office won't look for it as they can find it out for themselves and sometimes they will look for it.
