Don't know why, but I'd like to see it too. Sort of like how you're intrigued by car crashes or accidents?

I went to watch it last Friday night in the IFI - was a pretty good docu-movie. I never really understood how f**ked up Jamez was on booze until he put it in perspective; he missed his kids birthday cos he was off on a drinking/hunting trip in Russia..... that's pretty messed up....

It also really showed that Lars for all his poncing about & the fact he's generally an ass - really is a total looper - just watching him give Jamez sh*t & get all up in his face going "fff******kk", I thought Jamez was gonna get up & smack him - LOL, everyone else did too heheheheh shame... anywayz..

Was nic to see inteviews with Newsted & the Mustaine piece was pretty cool - always felt that Mustaine got a bad rap all because he was ex-Metallica & because he founded Megadeth.

I advise ANY fan of metal or rock music to go see it, whether you like Metallica or not.... well worth seeing....

watched it today, very good. very interesting. you can see that their hearts just arent in it anymore. its simply about the money and the fact that they dont know what else to do with their lives. its sad really

that's sad. the gig's in the past 2 years have been so fantastic it's horrible to hear that. I guess it would be wierd.. what are you gonna do with yourself after so long in a life like that!? is it finished in the IFI today?

I enjoyed it, I have more respect for them now thanI ever did, takes balls to release a film that makes ya look a little like a spoiled child. Its running till thursday.

Yup - it hasn't gotten a general release in Ireland, & apparently across Europe it has been shown in select cinemas too..... I'd check with the webmasters of the SOMEKINDOFMONSTER.CO.UK website & see if it is getting a general release anytime soon.... but you can bet your bollocks to a barn dance it'll be out on DVD soon - especially with Metallica currently in money-grabbing mode :-)

excellent thanks I'll get a chance to see it so this week!!! looking forward to that now..

i thought it was very interesting...... it gave me an entire new perspective on metallica, by which i mean James. He is the core problem with the band, not Lars. If you thought Lars a power mad control freak prepare for a wake up call. It also reinforced the image I had of what a passive non-entity of a band member Kirk is.

I dont know why the hell Dave Mustaine wanted to take the part he was in out... he comes out looking so good and in the right (although the stuff he's saying in the media at the mo is doing him no good at all!).

anywhoo go see it if you love or hate metallica (you might to want to leave half an hour before the end of the film if you hate them tho... as that period is just devoted to how "great" metallica turn out in the end.)

i saw it today myself, its interesting, i didnt think it was great but im happy i saw it, gives a good insight into the band

I havent seen it yet, but from what Dave Mustaine said in a recent article im expecting some metallica propaganda to be honest. But im keeping my mind open, and hope to find a cinema showing it. Im in sydney by the way, and you'd think there'd be loads of cinemas showing it, but no. Oh well

I seen it last friday in the IFI and i really liked it. It was kinda interesting to see them not doing their we're badass and in metallica thing, even if it was only for a while. I think lars came off not as crazy as hes made out to be. Kirk was funny simply cos he was so passve and "cant we all just get along".
    I liked it anyway.
