anyone hear this rumour? i heard he was going to go to them because they are offering more money and he did say last year that he'd like to manage dublin.

i can understand why he would want to go but its still going to piss me off big time when/if he goes

i'm grateful for all he has achieved at laois but i feel he could take us further

According to some of the dubs here Paudi was going to take the job a few weeks ago. Tbh I don't think any of these will move to Dublin. Dublin is a high pressure job and one where no manager, no matter who they are, are likely to get any respite from the media or the fans. Add to that all the politics involved in Dublin GAA and it just enforces the point that anyone who wants to take that job has to be mad in the head.

Coming from a Laois perspective Micko would be mad to move too. Laois have great young players coming through now and imo Dublin does not have that same level of talent at the moment. I suppose the same goes for Paudi in Westmeath.

Overall Dublin and Laois are probably equal if you are comparing recent underage success. The Dubs have been in 4 All Ireland finals in 4 years in minor and U21. Laois have done even better in recent years in minor, but they dont seem to be able to bring that on to U21 for some reason.

5 or 6 (or whatever it was) years ago, Westmeath had a very good run of underage success, but in the last couple of years I cant remember them doing anything of consequence at underage level. But in any event I dont recall anybody saying Paidi would be the next Dublin manager, and thankfully he definitely wont be. He underachieved at Kerry, and while it was fantastic for Westmeath to win Leinster, they ended up underachieving at All Ireland level. Only reaching the quarter-finals, which they had done recently, and losing to a very mediocre team in Derry.

The money thing is the odd thing from a Dublin point of view. Dublin have never paid money to any manager, not even expenses - one of the very few counties who can say that. Micko would not be cheap, so that would require a change in policy.

If Micko does go to Dublin he wont be getting any more money than he would have at Laois, but he will get an awful lot more hype from the media - and he'll love that.

Somebody said it to me a couple of weeks ago about Micko, but I struggled to believe it and still do. I agree with the rooster about Paidi, he underachieved, with the best team in the country consistantly. I would not like to see him get the job. Having said that I am not who I would like to see get it.
