i reckon ill be getting and a4 system soon, im getting a MSI K8N neo platinum board and a zalman 7000 to cool an AMD64 3000

question is: i'll either be getting 3200 corsair value select ram from komplett at 100 quid for 512mb (timings 2.5-4-4-7 i think)
    Or
ill be getting mushkin pc3500 level 1 ram from jes at 156 euro per 512 (timings 2-3-3- i think)

now will it be worth spending the extra 60 euro to get the better ram as i will be overclocking (hence the zalman 7000) and i dont wan't to be restricted by poor ram seeing as ive bought a good cooler and mobo for the thing?

im not too pushed for cash so both are feasible options

    thanks in advance

If you are overclocking, you should be getting the decent RAM.

    Finally, get a gig!

i was leaning towards the better stuff, however a gig is quite expensive TBH

I wouldn't think anyone would notice a difference in CD or DVD burning speed if you had 512mb of ram, or 1024mb of ram, but games will definately be faster!

Firstly, its faster. So you will be a lot less likely to be held back by slow ram in your overclocking efforts. Secondly, it has lower timings, which are ALWAYS good. I think AMD64's like low timings so i'm told.

3500 even if only for those tighter timings but it will mean an OC won't be restricted by your RAM.

Yeah PC 3500 is all you need for air cooling with AMD 64. However looking at the cooler your getting if you can spend a little extra the Thermalright XP 90 or 120 would do a better job cooling wise. The Zalman is quite good but does not match the the thermalright although its quiter.

Finally here is one for you. On overclock.co.uk there selling ocz eb pc 3500 dearer than the 3700. Whats up with that.
