I have an external cd burner that usually connects via USB, 2 laptops and a wireless network in the house.
Anyone know if its possible to somehow connect the burner directly to the wireless router so that its always in one place?

Not over wifi anyway. The Cd burner needs to be hooked into a machine with the right drivers to work properly.
