Just wondering what you would do about this, want an opnion or two. I applied for a job and had interview about two weeks ago. Felt at the time it went fairly well but not sure how many other people were applying, they said they have a decision within 2 weeks . It's now about 2 and half weeks.

Have email address for HR and was thinking of sending a short email asking has a decision been made and if unsuccessful could they give any feedback.

Have never taken this approach before as have either been told within a day or so a yes or a no so what do you reckon. leave alone and wait till they ctc me or is it advisable to ctc them and see what the story is. (would really like the job!)

    Mail them. Preferably ring them.

If you have a specific name in HR, ring them and talk to him/her. Always better, it means they can't leave you hanging on for a day or two while they answer you.

I think it'd be fine to send a polite email enquiring about the outcome of the interview.
I was in a similar situation a few weeks back.
Was told that i'd hear the outcome in a couple of days.
A week later, still nothing so i sent off an email.
It was another week before i got a reply.
It's really annoying, especially as they were always prompt in their responses until after the interview.
Anyway, basically send off a mail but don't expect an immediate response.

right will bite the bullet and email them, over the weekend everyone told me sounds pushy but then they are all a bit wussy so had me worried would count against me if I did!
    thanks for the opnions

I'm with seamus on this one:

E-mail can be the black hole of communication when dealing with someone who is busy or delayed. A phone call should elicit a fast response from the HR representative you are dealing with (try to get the specific person dealing with your application).

A good HR department would already have given you a courtesy call to let you know that there has been a delay in the process and that you are still under consideration for the position.

If a HR department were to consider a politely follow up call from you after the interview as a mark against you, then maybe it might be best not to work for them anyway. The type of candidate who follows up is exactly what a business needs.

Sent my email yesterday and heard zilch since, put it ever so politely and said would appreciate any feedback after the interview etc. Will give it till tomorrow then place a call. Hr dept were a little unsure at time of interview what salary was as well and gave different hours to advertised ones. So starting to think not what it's cracked up to be, still a job is a job and I need one!

    Thanks for advice
