File conversion problem...

    Okay, i have a video file ending in .mpe, when it should be in .mpeg or .mpg, i assume. Problem is the file doesn't run on wmp9 as it says the file is either corrupt or it doesn't support the format , same in real player. It used to run fine on wmp8 but i need wmp9 now for certain other stuff i have. I redownloaded it and it ran fine in the preview mode of this program but once it finished it won't work. I tried some video convertor programs but they won't accept the file as it is of a .mpe file type. If anyone could tell how to change this file into a .mpeg i'd be really grateful. Anyone have any ideas/advice/help ?


    *edit* file runs grand on vlc 0.72, so i guess i'm even more confused

    Manually change the file extension to mpg , see if that helps.
