    Firstly, can you do it (forced newbie to XP) and if so anyone know of a how to out there?

    you got to check out your hardware ability also!

    go into network wizard setup and its as simple as that.Networking to win98 is a cinch also just put in floppy and run network wizard ,press a few buttons and hey presto!.Just put floppy into other comps on network run it and bingo!
