Getting off a DART

Just want task if anyone has noticed whilst travelling on the DART, or indeed the ARROWS and other communter trains, I would assume to:
I don't use public transport too much because it's crap and whenever I use it, somethings breaks down.
Anyway back in my college years a few years back I would get the DART from town to Bayside. What I always found hilarious was the fact as the train pulled out of Howth Junction, anywhere between 1 and 4 or 5 people would get out of their seats and stand by the door, almost as if there was a race to be first off the train at Bayside. It's proably a little over 2 minutes travelling time between these 2 stops so these eejits are standing there for absolutely no reason. When we reach Bayside and stop, I then procede to leave my seat and get off the train. The gas thing is the silly feckers who have nearly been fighting to press door open button are no directly in front of me as we walk down the stairs and out of the station.
I mean, what on Earth are they doing??? I assume this happens at other staions too. However, I have only paid heed to it at my own station. Has anyone else noticed this strange "phenomen"?

    lol :D

Yes its very true and it doesnt only happen in this country. It happens all the time in probably every country.

I'm a regular user of the DART (which is not crap) and Ive used rail transport all over this planet and Ive seen this phenomen all the time.

Maybe it a sub-con. fear of not getting off at the right stop or being late????? I havent got a clue really, but it is funny. But thats humans for ye. We think we're smart and keep on doing very stupid things most of the time.

Actually it's something i'm prone to do :o ....Just feel like i need the change from sitting down, so i get up a little early to get the old blood pumping in the legs. My normal journey is Bray to Pearse and vice versa (35-40mins).

Well Ruggiebear. I apologise to you and anyone else for that matter if I caused any offence with my earlier comments - I just needed a good rant coz I am stuck in work. Going home now - Into the hailstones

It happens on other forms of public transport too. You see people getting up way before their stop and ending up just standing while the sensible people, getting off at the same stop, are still sitting down and get up at the last moment. OK, if there are a lot of people on board and it is going to be a bit of a struggle to get from where you are sitting to the door, then you may have to get up and start making your way through, to get to the door by the time the stop comes, but you often see people doing it when there is absolutely no problem insofar as there are very few people on the bus/DART/Luas/train. I normally just sit in my seat and get up to go as the bus is pulling up for the stop.

used to see this a lot at clontarf rd. station as the crowds rushed to get on the free shuttle bus to east point biz park

also at tara st station, especially in the first carriage (northbound trains) to avoid the crush on the platform and be first down the stairs
