Is it repeating chars until you stop pressing the keys?
Maybe the repeat rate is very high and the repeat delay very short.

If you are in Windows (95-XP) look at Control Panel->Keyboard
and set the repeat delay longer, maybe to the max to start with.

Have you tried the repeat rate/delay options as these should sort this out if it's a software issue.

What keys is it affecting? All or some or particular rows of keys? Try an external keyboard with it to see if it's the OS or the keyboard itself.

might just be sticky stuff under it.

give it a good shake out (within reason) or try the vacuum on it.

maybe you should try some of that Spay Duster stuff. It's compressed air for cleaning pcs - it blasts all the dust away - without blowing all the keys away thou! :p

Hey I was serious we use that stuff all the time!!It could just be some crumbs or something. Anyhoos how old is this laptop?! If it's still under warranty then get Dell to sort it. If not they'll prob charge you an arm and a leg to fix it for you!!
