good acting from tom cruise, but thats it.
3 hours 20 minutes of crap. i would have left after about an hour, but i was in england and hadnt a clue where i was. and i never leave a film no matter how bad. thats how bad it is....

Eamo must have been partaking of the mind altering drugs - excellent film, Cruise was superb. It is long, coulda had that semi-biblical rant from Jason Robards at around the two hour mark snipped out, and Julianne Moore really gets on my tits - whinging *****.

Nice to see a film that the weather plays a big role in too smile.gif and nice soundtrack by Aimee Mann, must grab that on the morrow.

Have to agree with Castor, i thought it was really great. Fine, its three hours long and it can be really long winded in places, but any film that deals with chance and coincedence fascinates me. The performances were uniformly excellent, especially the ones from John C Reilly as the cop and the girl who plays the drug addicted women he takes a shine to (Not sure of her name, Melora Walters ?). By the end, i was tearing out my fingernails, hoping that they got together. And i cant say that about a lot of romance films today 9and its not even a romance film). Hey, its not gonna be to everyones taste, but i loved it.

I'm with Eamo... do NOT go there.

Tom Cruise is superb; actually, the acting all-round is superb. The story has some really good ideas, and occasionally, it gets you really interested, thinking that it's going to be really clever, that it's all about to start coming together. This never happens, sadly. For all the good ideas, it is FAR too drawn out, boring and ultimately, appallingly badly directed and scripted. I've never walked out of a movie, but by god, I felt like walking out of this one.

For all the great acting and occasional moments of brilliance, I am hard pressed to think of a worse and less-entertaining movie.

    Ja,
    Rob

yup, even though I was not 100% on the ball, I can honestly say I have not seen a worst 'hollywood' movie!

Tom Crusie rocks, but bar that the movie is total ****

    Go for a pint instead

C'mon people! This guy directed Boogie Nights and that is a CLASS film. Magnolia will only be showing in our cinema for like one weekend but I am definately going to check it out. Castor is right. Maybe it has Superb acting and a good story and is lacking in all other departments but a lot of new films do not even have those two components.

So the pope puts down the Badger and leans over to me and says , 'At TFC my son , I 0wnz j00'. Before I could speak in walks Dustin Hoffman in a giant Silk Worm costume and just then...it started to get weird...

Shinji, vagga, i'm sorry guys but you're quite wrong - excellent film. And as for appallingly scripted and directed, please, it was a million times better than most of the crap that's out there.

The final 'storm' sequence - and i'm saying nothing more there cos i dont want to spoil it for anyone who hasn't seen it yet - was the most astounding thing I have seen in the cinema this year.

The movie commits a cardinal sin- it isn't entertaining. It just isn't a movie you are entertained by, but you can enjoy it. The acting is perfect. Tom Cruise is genius. The nurse, and Claudia are both brilliant. The premise is just about the most ingenius thing ever. Paul Thomas Anderson decided to adapt a song, instead of a novel when writing the screenplay. The first line of Aimee Mann's Deathly is the centre of the movie, "Now that I've met you, would you mind if I never see you again?" A beautiful movie, not the best of the year, because it is so ponderous. But the ending.... come on, it was worth waiting for. Douglas Coupland couldn't have done it better. You should buy the cd, its super good.

It is so lonely here in my indecipherable tower of speech impedimency

The movie is excellent, the DVD is better. You can two DVD's, with 3 hours for one movie I'm wondering what's on the other DVD.
